General presentation
Sen’ Finances was recognized of Public Interest by decree N° 2007-959 signed by the President of the Republic of Senegal on September 7th 2007.

The structure takes over FCSS (the Senegal-Swiss Counterpart Fund) with much higher ambitions and sets itself the goal of continuing operating in the microfinance field as FCSS used to.

“Sen’ Finances Foundation aims to contribute to the improvement of livelihoods among marginal destitute populations in Senegal. The Foundation’s ambition is to be a recognized and respected stakeholder in the microfinance sector in Senegal”.

Sen’ Finances Foundation in accord with Senegal’s development priorities in alleviating poverty aims at improving livelihoods of destitute marginal populations.

The choice of a Foundation operating under the Senegalese law has been made in a bid to set-up an institution of public interest with a relevant intervention strategy while presenting solid guarantees of performance and viability.
The project to create a Public Interest Foundation in the microfinance sector is something new in Senegal. The structure is expected to support both socially and financially institutions operating in the microfinance sector.

Sen’ Finances Foundation operates in the integrated Microfinance field while focusing on financial intermediation, core activity of former FCSS.

The Foundation puts in place a network of partners with preferably autonomous financing (NGOs, cooperation agencies, etc). These partners are expected to jointly provide their clients with social intermediation services and business development support.

It will equally carry out analysis, research and coordination activities in the Microfinance field.
Except the Senegalese state, Sen’ Finances Foundation counts seven other founding members including institutions represented within the FCSS technical committee.
